The land of the brave and free is celebrating 250 years of its birth. As immigrants in this country, we rejoice in the privilege of becoming citizens of a second nation, and we are deeply grateful for all that America has given us. Yet, the greatest blessing of all is knowing that we are citizens of heaven — a citizenship offered to every person, no matter where they were born.
We remember that we are sojourners passing through this world, travelers on a temporary journey. Our true destination is heaven, where our Heavenly Father lovingly waits to welcome us home. And if you find yourself traveling through life unsure of your final destination, I want to gently share the hope that changed my life — the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
This message is for every heart. If you sense a longing for assurance, if you recognize your need for forgiveness, and if you believe that Christ died for your sins and rose again to give you new life, you can respond with a simple prayer of salvation:
Heavenly Father, I come to You today knowing I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. I open my heart to You and ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and making me Your child. Help me walk with You from this day forward. Amen.
